Finding Community in the Chaos
Episode 8
SEASON 1

Re-grouping after weeks of crisis, the power of SANAD card validation and launching the '3 Busy Brains'
In this episode, I sit down with 3 Busy Brains collaborator Sarah Youssef from Neuroaffirm Hub to explore the raw reality of her family journey. Stripping away the business talk, Sarah shares her transition from a corporate engineering career to crying on the bathroom floor, overwhelmed by her son's early struggles during lockdown.
We discuss the turning point that changed everything: trying 'brain mapping' and neurofeedback. This non-invasive process brought clarity to her son's anxiety, while unexpectedly mirroring Sarah's own late-diagnosed ADHD. As a heavy masker, she speaks honestly about internalising her struggles, noting, "everyone has seen your output, no one has seen how you got there."
We also delve into the chaotic dynamics of parenting with ADHD and autism. Sarah opens up about her negative 'bird' (the inner critic telling her she was not good enough) and managing rejection sensitivity. We discuss redefining meltdowns as communication rather than bad behaviour and why maternal self-care cannot be an afterthought.
Finally, we celebrate launching the Neuroaffirm Hub, and our collaboration '3 Busy Brains' with Yvonne from UNICUS Collective, this sanctuary offers families a safe space to connect, share resources and access digital toolkits. It is our invitation to step out of isolation and find your tribe.
